Meiereihof with Kleinhohenheim

The Meiereihof with Kleinhohenheim station provides operational capacities (space, animals, buildings, machines and staff) für research and teaching in conventional farming (Meiereihof) and organic farming (Kleinhohenheim) at the University of Hohenheim.

Meiereihof

The emphasis at Meiereihof, a roughly 80 ha facility, is on its high-yielding dairy herd (63 cows). Fodder is grown on the arable lands and grasslands of this combined station. These lands are also used for experiments in soil and crop science. As Meiereihof is located next to the Hohenheim campus, researchers benefit from short distances to their institutes and laboratories.

Kleinhohenheim

Located some 3 km north of the Hohenheim campus and featuring some 60 ha of usable area, Kleinhohenheim is exclusively devoted to research and teaching on organic farming, as this part of the station has fully switched to organic production. The station is a member of Demeter, Bioland and Naturland (Germany's three main organic certifiers) and is certified annually.
